Collection: Tony O'Grady

Tony O'Grady has been making sculpture for over 35 years and works from his studio and yard in Christchurch.  

He enjoys the physical, practical and intellectual discipline of creating sculpture. He says he is constantly learning from the process, 'the doing of it'. His chosen mediums are stone, wood, bronze, clay, plaster and wax.  

He considers the uniqueness of one's work to be the outworking of one's own vision and world view. Inspiration for new work is often drawn from our land, its flora and fauna and its juxtaposition with the human condition.  

He says, “For me, every opportunity to exhibit is a challenging time to make inspiring, new work.”
