Sebastien Boko

Sébastien Boko is an established artist from Benin, West Africa, known for his powerful sculptural and painted works. He gained recent international acclaim exhibiting at the 1:54 art fair in New York, the 2023 Bordeaux Art Fair and winning third prize at the 2023 Sculpture Biennale in Burkina Faso.  

His early success in Benin's national wood carving competitions led to invitations for international projects in China, Japan, Turkey, Egypt, Switzerland and Tanzania. His series such as 'Transcendence' and 'Egungun’, explore Beninese and African culture, examining themes of womanhood and the spiritual significance of masks.
