Collection: Sean Crawford

Sean is a successful New Zealand sculptor. Originally Wellington based, but now living and working in the rural Wairarapa, his works are found and sought after - both nationally and overseas. Sean’s inspirations are as varied as they are evolving. His approach toward his art practice is always narrative driven and frequently highlights environmental and social themes. History plays an important role - with some of Sean’s sculptures reflecting on New Zealand's colonial past, whilst also being influenced by the Gothic storyteller Edgar Allen Poe and the paintings of NZ artist Bill Hammond.

Along with public art works around New Zealand, Sean’s work ‘The Cloak of Remembrance’ sits outside the New Zealand embassy in Washington DC. It's a sign that his ideas, although largely home-grown, are both respected and relevant on the world stage.
