Collection: Paul Brunton

Based in Torbay, Paul's works span various media - primarily wood, bronze and steel, but also include fibreglass, glass and found materials.

His art often features movement, inviting deeper contemplation and revealing hidden aspects. A strong connection to nature and the fluidity of life is evident, influenced by a sensitivity to water and weather developed through many watersports. These experiences, combined with practices like Tai Chi and Ba Gua, inform his fluid movements and emphasis on skill over brute strength in his creative process.

Paul often uses ecologically-sourced native hardwoods, feeling a spiritual connection to the wood. His pieces are deeply personal, reflecting themes of life, spirit, pain and tears. He aims to convey the beauty and fragility of our world, influenced by New Zealand's environment and diverse cultures encountered during his travels.
