Collection: Nathan Hull, Destine Hull & Sally Lush
Heavy Metal Folly is a collaborative sculptural work by Nathan Hull, Destine Hull and Sally Lush. It was brought together through the spirit of collective creativity at CollaboratioNZ, a biennial event in Whangārei where 70 artists gather for a week of spontaneous, cross-disciplinary art making.
Nathan creates large-scale sculptures from recycled metals, including stainless steel, copper and industrial scrap. With a background in engineering and inspiration drawn from nature, his works convey strength and include a 6m wingspan Haast eagle, located on the Warkworth motorway roundabout. Nathan has won multiple awards, including first place and People’s Choice for No8 Wire at Fieldays and Avantgarde at World of Wearable Art.
Destine draws inspiration from nature, crafting works from salvaged metals, while manoeuvring around the scrap piles left by her husband.
Sally’s art practice transforms everyday materials using paint, elevating them into beautiful, valued objects through her unique surface manipulation techniques.
