Murray Swan grew up in Auckland, NZ.He has been creating unique sculptures for over 30 years.
The training and experience he gained as an aircraft engineer over 40 years gave him some of the fairly unique practical and design skills he would need to express his artistic leanings.
Rapidly advancing aircraft engineering processes required the development of new skills, and with these skills he has been able to develop his art. Other skills were developed to deal with chemical treatments, electroplating, metal polishing and surface protection. All are essential to him in the sculptures he creates.
References to the sea, perhaps, stem from his upbringing so close to two beautiful harbours. It seems not too hard to understand, as so many childhood hours were spent playing on sandy beaches, fishing off rocks, swimming in little baysor riding the harbour ferries.
