Merle Bishop

Merle strives to create works that lift the heart and motivate change from heaviness to fun. Her work is based on observing dogs and humans and the relationships between them. 

Merle is a trained Graphic Designer, her ideas starting from these observations, are developed into paintings and sculptures. These ideas are familiar to most dog lovers, but unique to her, in that she designs artworks according to her own sense of humour. 

Merle was awarded People’s Choice by popular vote at Art in the Park recently. 

This showing of her bronze dog ‘Spot’ attempts to lure you into forgetting what’s on your mind and engaging you in a friendly, fun experience that will last well beyond your visit to NZ Sculpture OnShore.
