Marti Wong

Marti has been breathing new life into discarded tools and old carparts for over 25 years. He draws his inspiration from science fiction, nature and mythology, crafting diverse works ranging from majestic dragons and ancient dinosaurs to intricate robots and mysterious alien creatures. Each sculpture displays his unique style and understanding of industrial materials, to forge masterful creations from found objects and discarded metal.

He has pieces in private international collections and various public works around the North Island and has won multiple art awards for his fantastical creations. He also plays music and is exploring woodcarving to diversify his skills.
