Collection: Joe Kemp
Joe Kemp has been a full-time artist for over 20 years, mainly working in native wood, stone,and now metal. His work is mainly based around his Māori culture and influences in his life.
Joe enjoys creating larger outdoor sculptures using a number of different mediums including New Zealand native timber, hard stone, steel and bronze.
His work is Māori influenced with a contemporary modern style and form, utilising the natural and organic shapes of the raw materials. Joe looks to work with the Wairua that is within the medium to realise the finished art works.
Based on the shores of Lake Rotoma, Joe works from his home workshop.
Joe has been tutoring his wife Sherie and son Teimah in carving techniques and they are both now exhibiting and selling their works through Aotearoa.
