Collection: Di McMillan
Di is a Wellingtonian who has contributed to the capital city with her work in establishing a native-tree reserve; participation in community art exhibitions; and currently works in youth mental health support. Di is also a musician and expresses herself in songs and poetry.
Di has created many wire sculptures of varying size including different animals; birds, flowers and recently focused on dogs with their expressive postures and facial communication.
Following brain surgery many years ago, Di developed an interest in the temporal lobes of the brain, and celebrates her right lobe’s visualising and creative ability which favours less structured approaches. She has made brain-light scultptures for the opening of the book ‘The Poetical Lobe’ (2024), which includes her poetry.
