Collection: Bill Devoy

Having creative bones since his early years, art has always been Bill’s passion.

He spent 40 years in his own business, Devoy Signs & Graphics specialising in one-off design pieces. Bill's inspiration for his sculpture is the natural world and conservation. Some of his pieces can be viewed in the book, Creative Conservation - Artists who are wild about nature.

He enjoys working in a variety of mediums but hard rock being his preference. Bill's work is mainly realism, specialising in native bird life and portrait sculpture. His work is evolving and enjoys the challenges and physicality of working in stone.

Bill has participated in symposiums throughout the country, selling a piece for a record price at Te Kupenga Stone Carving Symposium in 2023. He has also exhibited in the Waiata Manu Exhibition held in Parliament Buildings in 2022. Bill was selected as a finalist in the Sculpture Awards at the 2020 NZ Art Show
