NZ Sculpture OnShore is New Zealand's largest outdoor sculpture exhibition held every two years at the spectacular Fort Takapuna Historic Reserve on Auckland’s North Shore.
The exhibition, which features work from established and emerging artists, provides a unique snapshot of contemporary three-dimensional art practice in New Zealand.
All of the works exhibited at NZ Sculpture OnShore are for sale during the exhibition and proceeds from each exhibition are donated to Women's Refuge. To date more than $1.9 million has been donated to help Women's Refuge support the victims of domestic violence in New Zealand.
Expressions of interest are sought from NZ artists for the next biennial exhibition in November 2020.
Curator Sally Lush is looking for a range of new works or those not exhibited previously in Auckland that will suit the large, exposed cliff-top site.
The artworks selected will range in scale from monumental stand-alone sculptures to domestic and small-scaled works; ephemeral projects, light and sound art works, interactive and participatory works, process art and site-specific installations utilising some of the historic built structures will also be included. Works that explore and raise awareness of the Women’s Refuge cause and those that relate to the history of the site will be encouraged.
Artists are also encouraged to create smaller works and Maquettes that will be for sale in the indoor gallery. A separate Call for Indoor Gallery submissions will be made in May.
Visitors to the exhibition are encouraged to vote in the People’s Choice Award which earns a cash prize of $1500 for the winning artist, generously supplied by our sponsors Fisher Funds.
