School Tours Programme
At NZ Sculpture OnShore, we encourage young people to develop and expand their knowledge and appreciation of three-dimensional art and to this end we have developed a comprehensive educational component.
Our School Tours Programme places a strong emphasis on participation and students developing their responses to sculpture through interactive and informative activities. We offer a package of teacher classroom resources and age appropriate student work sheets, designed by a professional art educator, to ensure a meaningful and memorable EOTC learning experience.
The three-dimensional aspect of sculpture is particularly appropriate for school-age children and this programme provides a unique opportunity for students to interact with it from many vantage points including where appropriate, physical contact.
Available on weekdays, the School Tours Programme is suitable for students in Years 3 – 13; whole class, small groups, art extension, gifted and talented, ESOL students, homeschool groups or those simply keen to experience large scale sculptures in a relaxed outdoor setting.
Schools enjoy a half-day visit to the outdoor exhibition featuring the largest collection of NZ contemporary art in the country and entry to the fascinating underground Fort which houses our Schools' Exhibition.
As well as being fun, these tours focus on student learning and provide ongoing work in the classroom/home environment. For more information see our programme brochure.
