Pan Theodosiou

What inspires your art practice?
I have sculpted all my life and I express myself in sculpture through the medium of stone, metal and wood. As a ‘direct carver’ I carve stone without first producing a model, working with materials sourced as close as possible to my location.

What materials do you work in?
Steel, stone, wood, plastic - 3D modelling

Describe your artwork for NZ Sculpture OnShore 2021
Conceived as a symbolic figurehead, Athena stands on the cliff top, representing life’s journey and hope. Designed to conquer the challenges of the exposed cliff top location. Athena pays homage to semi- mythical women and the site-specific semi- historical attributes, the Navy. The exposed figurehead standing on the cliff top as it would stand proud as the figurehead of
a ship.

Where are the public most likely to see your artworks outside of NZSOS?
Sculpture in the Gardens 2021-22, Auckland Botanical Gardens; Kaipara Coast Sculpture Gardens; Emma Jean Gallery, Silverdale; International Art Centre, Parnell; Wentworth College, Gulf Harbour, Auckland.

Where did you study?
City and Guilds of London Art School
