NZ Sculpture OnShore Event Update
NZ Sculpture OnShore
After close consultation with our stakeholders and partners, we have made the very difficult decision to postpone the NZ Sculpture OnShore 2020 event. Having already spent several months working closely with artists in preparation for the bi-enniel exhibition, we are all incredibly disappointed that the Covid 19 outbreak has compromised our ability to confidently stage this huge public event and ensure a profitable outcome for Women’s Refuge.
We would like to express our gratitude for the wonderful support from our sponsors, patrons and volunteers, whose understanding and positivity around the future of the event have enabled us to now confirm plans for our next exhibition in November 2021.
Women's Refuge - "Gift a Safe Night"
Our event is held to raise money for Women’s Refuge and this organization have seen a 35% increase in residential clients during the Covid 19 lock down. Now more than ever they need funds to carry on their crucial work helping women and children experiencing violence at home. So, in place of our event this year, we are encouraging all our supporters to please consider this great initiative “Gift a Safe Night”.
For $20, help the victims of family violence by booking a room for someone you have never met, in a place you will hopefully never visit.
“Isolating and social distancing can have unintended consequences for women who are living with the people abusing them. Isolation from wider family, friends, and colleagues is a well-known method abusers use to exercise control over victims.
For most New Zealanders, when we need an escape we simply jump online and book a getaway. But for some that is not an option. Every night in this country, over 167 women and children are too afraid to stay at home because of family violence.”
If you would like to make a more substantial donation please feel free to contact us at email@example.com
With best wishes from the team at NZ Sculpture OnShore and The Friends of Women’s Refuges Trust.
